First, there was analytical artificial intelligence (AI), then generative AI. Now we are in the midst of a new revolution: the agentic revolution. AI agents can make decisions, orchestrate complex tasks and work seamlessly with a host of tools. They represent a decisive step forward in task automation. These intelligent agents don’t just respond to queries. They get things done.

The goal now is not to produce content. It’s to delegate work to systems that are capable of learning, conversing and performing, and thus of generating new work methods and business models. The opportunities for growth are endless.

TAP INTO THE POWER OF AI AGENTS TO MAKE YOUR ORGANIZATION FUTURE-READY.

The best way to leverage the potential of these technologies is to roll up your sleeves and use them. This immersive seminar will walk you through some real-world cases, give you the chance to try out some of the available tools and develop your own AI agent. You will leave with a much clearer idea of the strategic foundations and potential applications of this technology, which you will then be able to utilize to boost the performance of your talent and your organization as a whole.

GOALS

  • Understand the basic principles of generative and agentic AI.
  • Identify the most promising use cases applicable to your business.
  • Examine the human, organizational and ethical repercussions of intelligent automation.
  • Devise a strategy for integrating AI agents into your day-to-day business operations.
  • Experiment with a tool for building AI agents (e.g., GPTs, Copilot Studio).
  • Develop an action plan for your organization.

IS THIS FOR YOU

  • Professionals, mid-level managers and leaders in any department: operations, finance, marketing, sales, human resources, information technology, etc.
  • Entrepreneurs and business owners
  • Anyone interested in incorporating AI tools into their routine business operations

If you’d like to start by familiarizing yourself with generative AI, we suggest taking these two programs first:

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Three passionate instructors who have supported many organizations and managers in their digital transformation
  • A curriculum that combines hands-on experience, real-world case studies and leading-edge industry knowledge
  • An understanding of how these new tools work and how they can be immediately incorporated into your organization

Participants will receive a certificate of completion from Executive Education HEC Montréal.

Background: Where Are We on the AI Timeline?

  • The evolution of AI: Analytical → Generative → Agentic
  • Emerging issues: cognitive overload, abundance of tools, algorithmic accountability

Goal: Create a mutually understood frame of reference.

AI Agents: What Are They Really?

  • Definition of agentic AI and how it differs from generative AI
  • Specific examples: booking agents, HR assistants, copilots, project managers
  • Anatomy of an AI agent: perception, memory, reasoning, action
  • Interaction between agents and systems (API, CRM, Zapier, etc.)

Goal: Lay a solid foundation for understanding agentic AI, beyond the buzzwords.

Use Cases and Impact

  • Actual case studies in various industries (healthcare, finance, marketing, utilities, in-house management)
  • Intelligent automation models: small businesses vs. large corporations
  • Discussion: benefits to leverage, pitfalls to avoid

Goal: Provide food for thought and look ahead to what the future holds.

Practical Exercise: Building an AI Agent from Scratch

  • Guided demonstration: Building an agent using Copilot Studio, custom GPT or another platform
  • Team assignment: Planning a scenario and building an agent to meet a specific need
  • Group analysis: Observations, limitations and opportunities for improvement

Goal: Experiment with building an agent (no coding or programming experience required).

Integration and Deployment in an Organizational Setting

  • Inclusion of AI agents in your processes
  • Tests and pilot projects in your organization
  • Governance, ethics, change management, team buy-in

Goal: Move from experimentation to adoption.

Individual and Group Action Plan

  • Identification of a test project or a priority use case
  • Sharing of canvases, resources and best practices
  • Discussion: internal barriers to be overcome, role of leaders in AI adoption

Goal: Leave with a clear and immediately actionable roadmap.

TRAINING APPROACH

  • Dynamic teaching approach
  • Discussions about concepts, framed by participants’ personal experience
  • Team exercises
