After a career of more than 30 years as a manager and organizational development consultant, Pierre Lainey joined HEC Montréal’s Department of Management as a full-time lecturer in 2003. He teaches a variety of courses on topics such as political skills in the workplace, change management, organizational leadership and decision-making, and oversees the organizational leadership and people management programs. He also regularly leads training sessions for Executive Education HEC Montréal.
He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool (U.K.) and has authored seven books touching on such themes as organizational leadership (2008), political skills (2004, fourth edition) and decision-making (2024, fourth edition). In 2008, he received HEC Montréal’s Award for Teaching Excellence.
Pierre is currently researching the strategic behaviours of individuals in large organizations during times of change.
