We’ve all been there: stuck in a meeting that is endless, pointless and meaningless, where the only thing you leave with is a sense of wasted time. Coming together as a group to make decisions and take action is essential to doing business, but without a clear purpose and defined expectations, meetings can be counterproductive and morale-deflating.

Successful outcomes and team collaboration are contingent on meetings that are carefully planned to maintain everyone’s interest, get them to actively share their input and work together toward tangible results.

This course will show you how to make your meetings more organized, more enjoyable and more productive, using a tried-and-true set of techniques and methods. You’ll learn the secrets to running meetings smoothly and strategically in order to encourage conversation and cohesiveness, facilitate informed decision-making and help your team achieve new levels of success.

GOALS

  • Understand the impact that a well-managed meeting can have on team productivity and motivation.
  • Plan out key steps in a meeting and ensure the objectives are clearly defined, the right people are in attendance and your agenda is designed to focus on what’s important.
  • Learn how to keep your meetings running smoothly, using proven techniques to encourage participation, keep everyone in line and stick to the established agenda.
  • Stop unproductive behaviour that can undermine group dynamics and make meetings difficult to manage.
  • Facilitate consensus-based decisions using a structured approach.
  • Gauge the results and ensure action items are followed up on.

IS THIS FOR YOU?

Anyone called upon to lead meetings as part of their job.

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Improve productivity. By learning how to structure meetings in an effective way, with well-defined guidelines and allotted speaking times, you can avoid repetitive discussions and wasted time, and ensure that everyone remains focused on concrete and actionable decisions.
  • Strengthen team collaboration and engagement. A well-run meeting encourages active participation, makes the goal of your discussions clearer and makes team members feel valued and useful, thereby improving interaction and leading to more thoughtful decisions.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion from Executive Education HEC Montréal.
