Tania Tanic has 25 years of high-level experience in cybersecurity, executive leadership and technology.
She specializes in guiding boards and management teams in developing a comprehensive vision and strategy to reduce exposure to cyber risks, future-proof their cybersecurity operations, improve cybersecurity awareness and leverage governance, risk mitigation, compliance, innovation and transformation to address business challenges.
She is an empathetic leader who builds diversified, self-directed teams that can work together to achieve fundamental corporate objectives. As a mentor and coach, she is committed to working toward a culture of continuous learning and adaptation. She is an active supporter of equity, diversity and inclusion policies and a strong advocate for women in tech.
Before founding BrainStorm CyberRisk in 2023, she oversaw growth initiatives and supervised data- and AI-related cybersecurity, cloud, digital and innovation operations for a major client while serving as an executive partner and CxO advisor at Kyndryl Canada.
Prior to that, she served as the CIO and Vice-President, Business Technologies, at Investissement Québec from 2018 to 2021. This was preceded by a series of tech leadership positions at iA Financial Group between 2009 and 2018.
She has an executive MBA (Université Paris Dauphine-PSL/UQAM), a bachelor’s degree in information technology (UQAM) and a certificate in cybersecurity (Harvard University). She possesses ITIL certification and is a chartered professional accountant (CPA), a chartered director (C.Dir./ASC), a project management professional (PMP) and a Lean Master.
She was on the board of the Institut des auditeurs internes du Québec for two years and is currently a director of the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie Française au Canada.
