François Saunier holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering (École Nationale Supérieure des Industries Chimiques_, France) and an M.Sc.A in chemical engineering from _Polytechnique Montréal in 2012. Since November 2021, he has been Deputy Executive Director of CIRAIG, contributing to the management and coordination of the research center’s activities. He is also responsible for the overall management of projects carried out for the partners of the International Research Consortium on Life Cycle Assessment and Sustainable Transition, as well as industrial projects carried out by the team of research professionals.
At CIRAIG since January 2013, as an analyst, he has carried out numerous life cycle assessments in various fields, such as mining and metals, chemical processes, the agri-food sector and buildings. He is also interested in complementary decision-making methodologies such as circularity indicators and material flow analysis (MFA).
Within the CIRAIG, he is also in charge of supervising projects related to two major themes in the transition to a more sustainable society: the measurement and operationalization of the circular economy and carbon neutrality. François Saunier has also worked on the development of several courses related to life-cycle thinking and sustainable production, and is regularly involved in training graduate students and professionals.
