Chief Executive, Aluminium, Rio Tinto

Jérôme Pécresse was appointed Chief Executive, Aluminium, Rio Tinto, in 2023. Committed to energy transition, his first months with Rio Tinto have been focused on decarbonizing the company’s aluminium operations while meeting new material needs for the future.

His approach centres on building a work culture driven by diversity and entrepreneurship and forging strong partnerships with First Nations and Indigenous peoples, communities, and governments. He brings a wealth of global experience in energy, mining, business development, and strategy from his previous roles at GE, Alstom, and Imerys.

Prior to joining Rio Tinto, he was named President & CEO of GE Renewable Energy in 2015, where he helped to define and implement the company’s strategy supporting the decarbonization of the energy sector. A graduate of Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in France, Jérôme Pécresse started his career at Crédit Suisse First Boston.
