Essayist, speaker, columnist, mental health consultant, freelance journalist and, above all, sanitation worker
BBA (Sociology and Psychology), MSc (International Administration)
A true jack-of-all-trades, Simon Paré-Poupart has worn many hats: manager and social worker, notably with the Canadian Red Cross; political activist, including as coordinator of the Regroupement des organismes environnementaux en énergie (ROEÉ) and candidate for the Green Party of Canada; founder of a small metal recovery business; freelance journalist; researcher; and, more recently, writer.
He is the author of Ordures! Journal d’un vidangeur, based on his 20 years working as a sanitation worker in Montréal. He also worked as a copy editor, editor and researcher on Alain Deneault’s major political work, De quoi Total est-elle la somme? His varied path was shaped by studies in French literature, journalism, sociology and psychology, followed by a master’s degree in international administration.
