Tima Bansal is a professor at the Ivey Business School at Western University. She spends most of her professional time thinking about business sustainability to assure the prosperity of today’s and tomorrow’s generations. Applying a systems thinking lens, she strives to show how sustainable development is not merely an elusive vision, but an achievable aspiration.

She is committed to raising the profile of sustainability research, taking on editorial roles at the Academy of Management Journal (Associate Editor from 2010 to 2013, Deputy Editor from 2016 to 2019) and sitting on over 10 other editorial boards. She also founded the Network for Business Sustainability (2003), the Centre for Building Sustainable Value (2005) and Innovation North (2019), which she continues to lead. Her ambition is to engage closely with executives in the research process so that researchers can produce more creative, impactful studies and managers can innovate with regard to sustainable practices.

She earned her Doctorate in Management Studies from the University of Oxford and has been awarded honorary doctorates from the University of Hamburg, Université de Montréal and VU Amsterdam. Prior to joining Ivey, she held various positions at the University of Cambridge, MIT, the Copenhagen Business School and Monash.
