Dr. Carpentier is Head, Trade, Environment, and Climate change Branch of the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) following 8 years as Chief of its New York Office. She co-chairs the UN Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy as part of her advocacy for new economic models for sustainable development in support social and green entrepreneurs and SMEs.

She served as policy analyst and researcher for DESA and Major Groups (of non-State actors) Coordinator in the SDGs negotiations and the UN Rio+20 Conference, Director at NAFTA’s Commission for Environmental Cooperation, policy analyst at Winrock International, and the Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute.

She is a 2006 Yale World Fellow and Schwab Foundation intrapreneur of the year 2023. She obtained a PhD. in Agro-Environmental Economics from Virginia Technology and MSc. and BSc. from McGill University and is an ironman and ultramarathoner.
