Jean-François Lépine is an international analyst and a respected media presence. He serves as a geopolitical consultant for private- and public-sector clients as well as an international commentator on the 98.5 FM radio station in Montreal.
Mr. Lépine was a foreign correspondent for the French and English networks of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Beijing, Paris and Jerusalem from 1982 to 1990, where he won widespread acclaim for his reporting and analysis. From 1990 to 2013, he hosted such popular public affairs programs as Enjeux, Le Point, Zone libre and Une heure sur Terre, which aired throughout the world on TV5 Monde.
Before serving as Director of the Quebec government offices in China (Beijing, Qingdao, Shanghai and Shenzhen) between 2015 and 2021, he was a partner, global analyst and public speaker with Avistra. He has also served as the chair of the Observatoire sur le Moyen-Orient et l’Afrique du Nord, a thinktank on the Middle East and North Africa, and as a member of the board of Montréal International.
He has received many honours over the course of his career. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada (2012) and the Order of Québec (2022) and was presented with the Medal of Honour by the Québec National Assembly in 2024.
